any ideas?
im thinking of building a fort i will use a large grey baseplate aswell as putting blue tiles on. general redwater and ratshot may show their faces.what im asking is.. what features shall i put in?and any building techniques should i use share your bricksaving techniques here!
Re: any ideas?
I'll have to get back with you on features, if you can post a picture of the baseplate, and what you already plan to have. The obvious is walls, and cannons. As for bricksaving ideas, I can say any before I know what you know about that.

Say you need to fill a 2x5 gap, lets look at the good and the bad.
Good:
2x4 and a 1x2 (2)
Bad:
10 1X1s (10)
5 2X2s (5)
Etc...
If you look at the numbers, you can see how the Good one saves bricks.
Need any more help?
Octan,
Again, still on Ipad, forgive spelling!
Try using the Blue base-plates in the size that is normally green, there, saved some bricks. If you chose not to do it this way, buy your blue bricks from here:flame wrote:im thinking of building a fort i will use a large grey baseplate aswell as putting blue tiles on.

Unlike what Lego and T/A/K-fols have built, a fort is not just a dock.... A dock can be part of a fort, but a dock is not a fort... You want to take a look at different forms of multimedia to see what I mean..flame wrote:what im asking is.. what features shall i put in?

The more you try to save bricks the worse your creation will be.... Remember, you can take lego apart, if you need a brick, you can get it back. But some simples things:flame wrote:and any building techniques should i use share your bricksaving techniques here!

Make a simple structure, then expand onto it, until it is very large

Re: any ideas?
Try to think about forts in real life: what would you see in a fort in reality? Forts should survive sieges for long times, so you should include a kitchen, a bedroom, a lavatory and a storage room. You can also put an 'office', a private room for the admiral.
If you don't have the pieces you can decide before to build an unrealistic fort, compare it to TV series and movies where they don't show the characters going to the toilet or even eating.
