Re: Custom Whatevers
Just wondering, is the head going to be worked on?
Sorry if I sound naggy, I'm just wondering.

Thanks. How much extra would it be to get it resin casted? And could you get it in color?

I'll get to it today, I have been sorta busy lately.JackDawson1010 wrote:Just wondering, is the head going to be worked on?

Hmm...Those would be a little hard to 3D design, I could get the LEGO Beanie cap piece and paint them color accurate and mod one to match the middle one. As for the top, I might be able to come up with something.CommandoMando wrote:First Rate Customs wrote:Can I please have some reference pics? like Jack I don't mean to be naggy, but are you working on the lightbulb, rubbish bin and pillow?

Around $3-4 a hat, still looking for a good BL deal.CommandoMando wrote:How much would it cost?
EDIT: $2 for the 2nd and 3rd hats, not sure on the first yet. Shipping is $2.

Re: Custom Whatevers
Out of curiosity, how much would a minifig-to size helmet/ head modified of a Blaze trooper cost?
I would want to to over-lap the body like the new ewoks do.

Re: Custom Whatevers
I'm not sure, I don't really have an ability to do that but I might be able to have someone else do it then I could paint it. I'll see what I can do.The Empire wrote:Out of curiosity, how much would a minifig-to size helmet/ head modified of a Blaze trooper cost?

Re: Custom Whatevers
UPDATE:
CommandoMando-The Blue/Red hat is almost done, I just need to make the thing for the top of the hat once the paint sealant is done drying. The other hat I am going to start on in a couple minutes, and the green one I think I know what I am going to use and will get it soon.
LegoZeus-The lightbulb is not doing too well in CAD, I am going to attempt to sculpt one by hand. The pillow is just about done, and the rubbish bin will take a while due to the time it takes to have it 3D printed.

Re: Custom Whatevers
Anywhere from $10,000 to a couple million, it depends on what you are looking for... Makerbot is the cheapest out there, at $1000, but you have to build the thing yourself..PerthPoke wrote:How much does a 3d printer cost?

Re: Custom Whatevers
If you mean a printer that prints a 3D object from a CAD file using multi-layer plastic composite laydown, as Octan said $10k-millions. If you mean a printer that can print on LEGO, there are different kinds.PerthPoke wrote:How much does a 3d printer cost?
Pad Printer-You have to make a pad plate for every new design, and it essentially stamps the design on. Not sure on price, haven't done much research.
Inkjet Flatbed Printer-Essentially a regular inkjet printer, but instead of running paper through it has a printer bed that you lay the objects on, and it prints on them with a printer head like a normal one. It is better if you want the ability to test a design fast and cheap, simply draw up the design and somehow (I'm sure it says in the instruction manual) send it to the printer and print it on in less then a minute! Prices range from $3k (For the kind Crap Army Customs uses, not recommended) to $15k for a good quality one. I found a nice one for $10k.
Re: Custom Whatevers
You spent 10k... I don't want one... I'm saving up for a gaming pc, which at the prices I'm looking at, will only be 1500 to 2000 squid.
Oh yeah, I call it squid!

Re: Custom Whatevers
I am now looking into a Makerbot, instead of any other gifts for Christmas. The assembled one is $2500, and I am figuring I can make a decent amount of that back by selling Printed items...

Re: Custom Whatevers
I usually don't spend my money on things like that. For example, all I'm getting for Christmas is tons of Hasbro (TONS, trust me) and the two new LEGO Battle packs.

I'm getting a trip to BBTB and a little cash. Although I plan on eventually getting a Inkjet solvent flatbed printer for like 10k.The Empire wrote:I usually don't spend my money on things like that. Re: Custom Whatevers
What is BBTB? I want start making custom pieces but the prices are high. So I may try with sculpty to start with.
Re: Custom Whatevers
BBTB stands for Bricks by the Bay. It is a LEGO convention in the San Francisco bay area. They are actually not to hard, with some practice. Sculpey is good but not if you don't have much sculpting skill like me. I'm more of a cut up stuff and glue it together person.Quinzel wrote:What is BBTB? Sorry, I'm behind on a lot of this in prep for BBTB. I'm ordering the head later today hopefully, and can finish it in a day or two. Can you pay with PayPal?JackDawson1010 wrote:I think you said mine was just minor modifications to a head. What about that?

Sure. And sorry, I've been working on a project and I really want that head
Re: Custom Whatevers
Ok, and is $7 ok? Because that's all price of head, and paint. The head alone is 4, plus shipping.JackDawson1010 wrote:First Rate Customs wrote:Sorry, I'm behind on a lot of this in prep for BBTB. Re: Custom Whatevers
3 to ship a head seems to be a little much. I think JCC shipped a whole minifig for a buck once.
