Photoshop Help Empty Photoshop Help

First off I don't know if this is in the right section, but here goes nothing.
My Birthday is coming up and I want to ask for a photoshop program but I don't know which one to ask for. I need one that I can paint with to create custom minifig decals and some photo editing. I want one in a reasonable price too, at the most $300. So any suggestions? Classic Smile

the cheapest you can find they all do the same, my personal suggestion is you download Paint.NET, it's like photoshop and it's completely free.

I recommend this because it's the one I use for decals, it's got a simple interface and it does the same thing... plus it's free, so you can ask for some batman sets instead of photoshop... 300 bucks is still something :D

I do a ton of work in Photoshop, and honestly there is no other way to go other then Adobe. For exactly $299 you can get the Adobe Creative Suite, it has Photoshop, it is better for Photo-editing, or other things like Website creation. But you also get Illustrator® CS5, a vector drawing program, and a personal favorite of mine. Vector has no Pixels, so you can basically export it at any size and not get any pixilation, Its great for decal design and poster making. Also, if you are inside the US, you should look into ID Tech Camps, it is a one week training corse aimed at ages 10-18 in many Programs.. I have taken over 12 weeks there, and they have a really nice Photoshop camp. Or you could apply to John Hopkins Center for Talented Youth, that offers a 6 month online corse (Only like an hour a week) that is also great. Photoshop is not that hard of a Program, Illustrator isn't either, with a little messing around you should be able to figure them out. I would possibly try Paint.Net if your just starting, but if you are going to use it a lot, just go for Adobe Software..

Thanks both of you! I'll look into those camps too. Is Paint.Net 100% virus free? Also does it work with mac? I have GIMP but it is frustrating when creating decals. The Illustrator looks awesome so might ask for that but I don't know.

Try Inkscape, it's free, works on Mac (with X11, included on the Install disc), virus free, and is Vector based.

The Master Collection is $800 for the Student Edition, I think $1800 is normal price.. But the Creative Suite is only $300, it only has Photoshop, Indesign, and Illustrator. I currently use the Master Collection, it is worth it if you are going to be using it for Design and Movie Editing...

You have to have a .edu Email... I forget what website you go to, but I think you can just get it from Adobes' main page, or just google the Student Edition..

Got inkscape and it's great! I was afraid it would be like GIMP but it was so much better! Will post decals soon. Thanks for all the help you guys! Classic Smile For now I'll use it, then once I get great might get illustrator.
