2011's Discontinued Themes

Are Toy Story, PoP, and Harry Potter going to be discontinued.

With the exception of Diagon Alley, I have not heard any other rumors for these themes. Can someone please explain?

Toy Story and PoP are going to be discontinued.
Nothing is known about HP, yet, but it is most likely that the Diagon Alley was the grand finale.

But who knows, there might be some new sets for the new movie coming later on. I wouldn't mind if it were to be discontinued, though, since I'm not a HP fan.

Most likely HP will be done when the Deathly Hallows Pt. 2. And unless Toy Story 4 or PoP is sequaled, those themes are dead as well

I dunno about PoP, but Toy Story is dead.
Toy Story 3 was the final Toy Story movie, there won't be another one.

HP may have another wave, but then it is likely to be the very last one, since the Deathly Hallows movies are the finale to Harry Potter, as far as I know.

Toy Story 3 was the final Toy Story movie, there won't be another one.

Yeah, but the world might be revived, under another name, of course, becaus J.K.Rowling stated that she might write more books, even though she promised Harry wouldn't be in them(she promessed it to D.Radcliff, who is tired of playing the character), so we might see more Hogwarts sets in the distant future.

Remmember it is based on movies and not books...

Also here's my take on the two others:
PoP: there's a possibility we'll see it again if this contract with Disney lasts.
Toy Story: If this was truly the last movie then we might get some sets early next year, but that's about it.(then again cars is a movie from 08 I believe, but they are making a new one)

lego could lose the rights to HP... almost happened to SW and

I'm to lazy to type the whole thing

All 3 of these themes were made on a single movie, I think. So it only makes sence to end the theme if there arn't anymore movies coming out.

TS has 3 movies, PoP has 1 at the moment, and HP has 7, and 8 coming this Summer.

Yup. The last.

As far as I know, there will be three more Harry Potter sets in 2011. The Forbidden Forest, the Knight Bus, and the Battle for Hogwarts (via Brickset)

With some of the brand new themes coming along (Pirates of the Caribbean, Alien Conquest, etc.) it means that some themes must come to a close. Lego picked two themes that were either not appealing to the predicted audience, or that they ran out of ideas for new sets. And without further ado, the theme's that will go:

I think that there is more: Reports at the London Toy Fair report that there are no new Pharaoh's Quest or Atlantis sets this coming summer. Plus, Toy Story ended, too, with a bunch of other themes.

OK, these are just the main two I heard. A few others I know may be discontinued. I'll update :)

I wasn't a huge fan of any of these, but I kind of liked PQ.

I'm looking forward to Alien Conquest!!

Pharaoh's Quest isn't going to end already. It just came out for heaven's sake! It just came out late last year to boost X-Mas sales.

This summer. The sets that were released were a 2011 January release. TLG has only released one wave in a year before. A half a year hiatus isn't unheard of. Unless the sales were terrible I would expect some in 2012.

Eh, I think that would be sort of lame. Unless we get more wing pieces There should be some kind of set that involves the Nile at least...

As for the discontinued themes... I'll miss Space Police, it was a great theme and I managed to get all non-exclusive/limited edition sets from 2009.

You guys are lucky. In New Zealand, where I come from, the only place I've seen Alien Conquest is in a LEGO Club catalogue. We barely have any Pharaoh's Quest either, yet. All our LEGO comes way later than yours. And PoP has already been discontinued.

I don't know how it is down south, but here in Europe we get some sets earlier to make up for some sets we never get(coughcoughArkhamAsylum), that was the case with the summer wave of SW sets.

Still you need to keep in mind that Europe and the US are the main targets for Lego, do notice they both have lego headquarters, that's not the case with Asia, Africa and Australia, so all the sets there are more expensive and harder to find because they need to be imported.
