News Paper MOC Contest!
Thats right! Its time for another wonderful contest. For this contest you must build any MOC and then make a News-Paper page about it, there are no limits on what you can build, but it must be made out of LEGO and not Clone Brands, Custom Parts and non-Standerd parts are permitted. (Bionicle/Technic).
PRIZES
Again our contest will be sponsored by the Wonderful BrickWarriors makers of custom parts.
I swear I'll do it! by Thrashq4g, on Flickr
1st Prize: Items highlighted in Red
2nd Prize: Items highlighted in Yellow
* Our Founder, JCC, will be managing the prizes, please keep in mind that it might take up to 1 week for the prizes to be shipped. We are sorry, but he can only ship on a day or two throughout the week. If you are banned, during the course of the contest, you will still get some prizes, but they may be docked, and some of your prizes may go to the other winners. We hope we do not have to even use this rule, but it is there in case. By entering this contest you agree to these terms and conditions
How to make the News Paper
Please use this template for your newspaper.
How to edit it
Just drop the .Jpg file in any photo-editing program and your good to go. If you would like to add more photos please post them in a Topic for your MOC (Every MOC should have its own topic somewhere on the Forum) but only the main photo will be judged.
PC: You can use MC Paint or GIMP if you do not have any other photo-editing software.
Mac: You can use 'Paint Brush' (http://paintbrush-mac.en.softonic.com/mac) or any other software.
Linux/Others: I am sure there is some kind of software for your system, just google it or PM me for more help.

Re: News Paper MOC Contest!
mmm... might just be enough to pull me out of le dark age... quick question, is trick photography/photoshop allowed?(Just so that the picture gains some degree of reality/magnitude...
It's just I plan on making something Sci-fy-y and I really don't feel like building a minifigure size acclamator...

Re: News Paper MOC Contest!
If it's your picture and the editing is not too extreme, I don't see any reason not to. However it may be unfair to others who cannot photoshop, so to be on the safe side, just keep the picture official, or state if it is photoshopped.
Re: News Paper MOC Contest!
I'll try to keep it as natural as possible, if I do photoshop it's just to do some color correction...

Re: News Paper MOC Contest!
Sounds fine to me. We all know real newspapers touch up photos to make them look better on the paper.
So don't worry about that. All is good.

Re: News Paper MOC Contest!
I'm sorry, I just don't understand this...
Are we making MOCs to go along, or are we using already posted MOCs?
And how is newspaper a Lego MOC?
Please excuse my ignorance. :)

Not that you are any "real" competition, but have you even posted and real MOC here anyway? Now you are not entering? Maybe you should, and work on something that takes more than 5 min to complete, and quit moaning and complaining about things, or just enter your "dark age" and save everybody else the trouble!(I'm sure you will be sadly missed!)
BOO HOO

Re: News Paper MOC Contest!
I just wondered something. Where do the judges watch for mostly? Is it the story, the MOC-up or is it how it looks most realistic compared to real newspapers?

Re: News Paper MOC Contest!
Hiya Here is my entry. My editing skils are rubbish so I have put a link to the original photo and the back story afterwards
If you view it in a larger size like here it's a bit easier to read! like here
http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7262/7497241268_d0f00f6b40_b.jpg (wasn't sure on sizing limits so haven't posted it as an image here.
I hope my crappy editing skills don't stop you guys from enjoying the back story. As a brit I found it quite entertaining finding out about your presidents and soem background about the political parties. If I've got anything horrendously wrong I apologise! I really enjoyed making this mock.
Happy fourth of July (a little bit early).

Re: News Paper MOC Contest!
Is it okay if I keep posting "entries" after the deadline? I just like to make stuff like this.

Just post them as Mocs in their own topics in any sub-forum and you're fine, glad you are enjoying this.

Re: News Paper MOC Contest!
I propose we extend it, nothing that we're waiting on... and we need more entries...

I see why not, but you can only win once, the contest will go until July 20th (as long as other staff agree), or until we have 5 more entries, what ever comes first. If you want to help out, anyone, tell your friends about this contest.

A second entry it is!
Re: News Paper MOC Contest!
I've posted mine on flickr and had 500 views in a couple of days. I'll edit the description to put in that the contest is still running :)
and FYI I'd be glad to place at all! :)

Re: News Paper MOC Contest!
Just as a matter of interest - has anyone posted this in contest central on flickr? that normally gets some decent traffic? Let me know if you want me to post it there if one of the Mods doesn't do it themselves. :)
Re: News Paper MOC Contest!
I thought about Contest Central, but I thought the contests had to be hosted on Flickr in order for them to be posted their, but then again I haven't used Flickr in a couple of months. If you would like to post it that would be great, or we could, either way.Hammerstein NWC wrote:Just as a matter of interest - has anyone posted this in contest central on flickr? that normally gets some decent traffic? Re: News Paper MOC Contest!
I can post it if you reset the deadline. Basically if there is a prize and a set deadline it can go in the flickr group. :)
They are quite particular about there being a deadline.

Re: News Paper MOC Contest!
Thanks!
I don't think it's the image hosting the problem, I think it's Forumotion which doesn't allow links to be posted by members that makes less than 7 days they joined the forum. A security option, which is good.
If you want, you could just add the "http: //" part in front to make possible to click on the link. That would be nice from you. :)
