Re: Lego Lord of the Rings Speculation
Hello everyone - guess who's back!
Just had to post in this topic,
because LOTR is my new favorite theme, as well as my favorite movies...
I was very excited when I heard the confirmation of the theme.
Even if the sets are bad (which I doubt), the minifigures will be great as usual,
and just for that one reason it could be the best theme, to me.
I can't describe how excited I actually am for the theme,
and when I saw the new SW sets I honestly felt nothing, really.. so in my book, LOTR is officially better.
The sets are looking good, but I'll be making my own versions of everything in the end anyways. Just gonna need lots of those figures...
Also, nothing yet is known about 'The Orc Forge', other than the set number and the name.
Has anyone heard more of it, by any chance?

Re: Lego Lord of the Rings Speculation
I just got a question, people
How does a lego minifigure put a ring on?
(yes I know it grants invisibility, I'm just curious)
Also will we get a frodo minifig without a finger?

They might not even put it on, they might just hold it like on the..poster-thingie
or even worse, it might be printed on the hand

Re: Lego Lord of the Rings Speculation
They will either print the hand with a "ring", or just make his hand gold.

Re: Lego Lord of the Rings Speculation
They may cast a new hand with a ring part on it and print it gold.
I don't think we'll see anything for the missing finger though.
They can't get away without the rings though. It's too much a part of the movie.

Re: Lego Lord of the Rings Speculation
I kind of wonder if the Rings will not be Mini-fig scaled, and be a bit larger. Like in the Atlantis line, the over sized rings that where somehow built into the set. Like this:JCC1004 wrote:They may cast a new hand with a ring part on it and print it gold.

Re: Lego Lord of the Rings Speculation
No.
I can ensure you (somehow...) that they're not gonna find ways to put it on his hand. LEGO has oversized tools, weapons 'n other stuff and that's the way it is.
The ring is just going to be like the one on the poster if not a bit different,
but I'm just fine with that. There were only a few moments in the films where he (Frodo) actually wore it anyways.

I doubt they could get away with that... The entire story line is basically biased around one object... They have to use a new mold...LEGOZeus666 wrote:They might be so crappy as to just use a gold stud.

Re: Lego Lord of the Rings Speculation
Maybe a new hand piece, possibly.
Or a ring that is at least large enough to hold like said prior.

And if you go to Henri for your problems, your entering the realm of darkness. I'm The Empire, Empy for short. Message any staff if you have an issue. Welcome!
LEGO Minecraft, IMO, may be better off left alone. Isn't it a game where you can make whatever you want? If so, then LEGO minecraft can be as simple as a LEGO brick bucket.

Uhh, what?
Do you really think they're just gonna use a simple stud for the one thing LOTR is about?
I bet not. More like a new mold, exactly like the one on the poster we saw before.

Re: Lego Lord of the Rings Speculation
I see too many people who do not trust me already..
Again, there will not be a new hand just for the ring.
It will be a rather large piece (for a ring) to be held in a minifig's hand, like a stud.

Re: Lego Lord of the Rings Speculation
Oh my God, have mercy on me, for my sins were the result of insolence and lack of knowledge, I was simply acting upon foggy memories of my childhood...
My friends... Yesterday I watched the fellowship of the ring
Today I watched the two towers...
Although boring at certain periods... the beauty that it emanates is that most pure, that which it shows you is natur at it's finest, and the way the shots are framed... that my friends is such stuff as dreams are made of.
My respect for the genius that is Peter Jackson(Oh Lord let us forget King Kong and Forgive him) has doubled...
It really leads me to say... What a piece of work is a man...
I shall try to find an interesting set now... Also, if you find certain quotes in my speech, you'll get a cookie... no hints though...

Re: Lego Lord of the Rings Speculation
Looks like I was right, guys.
New ring mold, olive green on Legolas... try to trust me when I say something in the future.
The Fellowship of the Ring
They're truly amazing.
Still not sure whether to just buy the figures, or get all sets anyways... but I think I'll go with the latter.

We were just seeing what else it could be, we weren't debunking your statement.
Re: Lego Lord of the Rings Speculation
Also, you forgot to point out the new beard on Gandalf....
Hypothetical question: How does the ring holder go about putting on the ring...
I guess lego LOTR is made so it's temptation free :D

Hence why I used the '' '' emoticon.

Heh, I was sure that would've been clear enough to see already.. or maybe my 'hawk eyes' helped me a bit.
The Orc Forge set comes with 5 orcs,
and some metalworks tools, weapons, equipment, etc.
I hope they're not just 5 of the same figures, since most orcs are completely different from each other.
But that's probably what the different weapons and armory is for... as long as they use different heads.
Let's begin the speculation on those: what would you guys expect? Molded heads with helmets specifically designed for them, or a few molded heads and some regular, printed heads?
I myself have to go with the first option...

Re: Lego Lord of the Rings Speculation
I am kinda thinking something like the Heads from the Friends theme, still works with normal parts but more molded.
Otherwise, those figures look amazing, I just wish they would make more Hobbits. I am dying to build a little MOC of the Shire.

EDIT: The guys over at Brickset.com posted a wonderful round up with lists of all the new sets.

Maybe a similar way, but I doubt it's the same system, since the orcs are getting those pointy ears on their
molded heads - that way, the helmets would require holes and gaps to use them on those, somehow...
It's possible that it will be that way, but we'll see. Just a few more weeks to go.
