Here is a new, single, collectable minifigure. It was produced for BR, is a chain of toy stores with branches in Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland and Germany. This minifig with the store's logo (which can be seen on their website), has been produced to commemorate its 50th anniversary.

A new LEGO related book has been published, here is the description from Brickset!
This book has just been published by Heel. It's written by Joachim Klang, who was also involved in the The Big LEGO Builders Book, also published by Heel, that we reviewed in October last year.
Build your own LEGO Vehicles by Brickset, on Flickr
If you enjoyed that book, you'll like this one too because it's pretty much more of the same. It contains detailed building instructions for the four models shown on the cover, plus a classic car, and a few items of 'equipment' (telephone box, stool and a parts tray). Like the first book, the instructions are very well produced and easy to follow, and full parts lists are provided.
There are a few interesting techniques used in some of the models, like building the vehicle chassis upside down, so if you've only ever built models from official instructions, it could be a bit of an eye-opener.
Interspersed with the instructions are pictures of the models, often in alternative colour schemes, photographed in LEGO scenes which are generally very good and provide further inspiration for your own models.
This, and all the other new LEGO books that are due to be published this year, are listed on our Amazon books page. In the UK it costs about £12 and in the US, $15.
I have another recently published book, Brick by Brick: How LEGO rewrote the rules of innovation and conquered the global toy industry by David C Robertson, to hand and I'll be reading and reviewing it over the next couple of weeks.

PRESS RELEASE:
LEGO Group Builds Creative Merchandising Program for “THE LEGO® MOVIE”
-First of 17 Building Sets, Playable Video Game Demo to be Displayed at Comic-Con-
SAN DIEGO, July 16, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — COMIC-CON INTERNATIONAL — The LEGO Group today announced that it will produce a collection of movie-inspired building sets celebrating the brand’s premiere as a theatrical film. The company has recruited an impressive roster of global partners to a broad, multi-category licensing program to support the much anticipated animated adventure film from Warner Bros. Pictures and Village Roadshow Pictures. Directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller and produced by Dan Lin and Roy Lee, “THE LEGO® MOVIE” is rapidly building buzz following its first released trailer and assembles on the big screen starting in February 2014.
“The LEGO brand has been a vehicle for creative storytelling around the world for decades, so it’s no surprise that there is such growing enthusiasm for the first LEGO theatrical film,” said Jill Wilfert, vice president licensing and entertainment for The LEGO Group. “We are thrilled to collaborate with our valued partners to build a varied and compelling portfolio of products through which fans of all ages can celebrate this LEGO brand milestone.”
Building Sets
Inspired by pivotal scenes in the film and starring key LEGO minifigure characters, a collection of 17 LEGO building sets will deliver all of the “THE LEGO MOVIE” action to the playroom. Fans will delight in highly detailed and functional vehicles and structures that reflect the creative versatility of the movie’s many LEGO themed backdrops, such as City, Wild West, and Space. Comic-Con International attendees in San Diego, California will see the first “THE LEGO MOVIE” building set unveiled at the LEGO booth (#2829) on Saturday, July 20.
Additionally, the company’s line of collectible LEGO Minifigures will receive its first Hollywood makeover with a series inspired by “THE LEGO MOVIE” cast of 16 new and “new-again” LEGO characters.
Videogame
In related news, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment today announced that the chart-topping and award-winning LEGO videogames franchise from TT Games will include an epic gaming experience based on the film across all major console and handheld gaming systems. With more than 90 playable characters inspired by the film and 15 exciting levels, kids will be able to build an adventure like never before.
Movie-Inspired Merchandise
A roster of global licensees covering several categories will immerse filmgoers in the world of “THE LEGO MOVIE.” Perennial publishing partners Scholastic, Penguin, Ameet and DK Publishing will offer a range of readers, sticker books, activity books and movie guides. Apparel partners include T-shirts from Mad Engine, Isaac Morris, Kabooki, TV Mania and Casco Blu, hoodies from TV Mania, pajamas from SGI Apparel, TV Mania and Kabooki and undergarments from Handcraft Mfg. and Kabooki. Carry Gear and Grown Up will offer bags, including backpacks and cinch bags. Clic Time is producing clocks and buildable watches. MZB Imagination and Funtastic are creating an array of stationery items including notebooks, journals, folders, pens, pencils and pencil cases, erasers, rulers and luggage/bag tags. Functional key lights featuring movie characters are being produced by IQ HK. Storage partner ROOM Copenhagen is producing a lunchbox, lunch set, drinking bottle and storage and sorting boxes.
The Feature Film
“THE LEGO MOVIE” opens in some global markets the first week of February, 2014. The 3D computer animated adventure tells the story of Emmet, an ordinary, rules-following, perfectly average LEGO minifigure who is mistakenly identified as the most extraordinary person and the key to saving the world. He is drafted into a fellowship of strangers on an epic quest to stop an evil tyrant, a journey for which Emmet is hopelessly and hilariously underprepared.
“THE LEGO MOVIE” stars Chris Pratt, Will Ferrell, Elizabeth Banks, Will Arnett, Nick Offerman, Alison Brie and Charlie Day, with Liam Neeson and Morgan Freeman, as the voices of the animated characters. The film is directed by Phil Lord & Christopher Miller (“21 Jump Street,” “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs”) from their original screenplay, story by Dan Hageman, Kevin Hageman, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, based on LEGO construction toys. It will incorporate some of the LEGO world’s most popular figures while introducing several new characters, inviting fans who have enjoyed the brand’s innovative toys and hugely popular video games for generations to experience their visually unique LEGO world as never seen before. The film is produced by Dan Lin (“Sherlock Holmes,” “Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows”) and Roy Lee (“The Departed,” “How to Train Your Dragon”). “THE LEGO MOVIE” will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company, and in select territories by Village Roadshow Pictures.

Re: 2013 Theme Discussion
LEGO have today announced two new Minecraft sets for release on September 1st.
COMIC-CON INTERNATIONAL: SAN DIEGO (July 17, 2013) -- Delighting LEGO® and Minecraft fans across the globe, The LEGO Group today announced it is extending its relationship with Swedish game developer Mojang to build on the blockbuster success of its first LEGO Minecraft building set to add two new models that will be released September 1, 2013.
LEGO Minecraft provides the opportunity to build, reconfigure and create new Minecraft micro-worlds in a physical LEGO way. The two new 3"x3"x3" models, The Village and The Nether, are on display for the first time at Comic-Con International in San Diego. Fans can also enjoy and take pictures with a large interactive 3D mosaic complete with Micromob character props at the LEGO booth (#2829).?
"LEGO Minecraft is a perfect example of how people's passions can be amplified when digital and physical interests are combined, and there couldn't be more synergy between the engine that drives the Minecraft gaming experience and the creative fuel of a LEGO building experience," said Michelle Wilson, senior brand manager for LEGO Systems, Inc. "We are thrilled to continue our collaboration with Mojang to create new Minecraft characters and environments in LEGO form so that fans can get as creative as they'd like in their physical world as in their digital one."
"There's no doubt about the connection between LEGO building and Minecraft -- not only the design similarities, but the immense creativity that our fan bases share," said Lydia Winters, Mojang's director of fun. "Given how well received the first model was last year, we can't wait to see what fans think of these new designs."
LEGO Minecraft New Product Highlights
The Village
With this model, fans can create and customize their own Minecraft village with LEGO bricks. Just like the game, fans can build houses, grow crops and beware the mines in their own micro-world as well as play out their own storylines with Pig, Villager and Zombie constructible Micromob figures.
The Nether
Builders can create the Minecraft Obsidian Portal and The Nether to explore the newest biome with this microscale LEGO model, complete with Netherrack, gravel, flowing lava and bedrock. This model includes two Ghasts and one Zombie Pigman constructible Micromob figures.
The new LEGO Minecraft micro-scale models can be split into four sections and reconfigured for different play experiences. They will be available beginning September 1, 2013 with a suggested retail price of $34.99.

Re: 2013 Theme Discussion
The LEGO Simpsons have been confirmed! We will just have to wait and see if what the sets look like, although, just text confirmation here.
We ran a story about LEGO Simpsons rumours back in March. Now it seems they've been confirmed, according to an article in Danish newspaper dr.dk today. This is a translation of the article, courtesy of Google:
"One of the most-loved, arch American families are now emerging as LEGO figures. These are the yellow cartoon family, The Simpsons.
There has long flourished rumours of an impending romance between 20th Century Fox Television, the production company behind the successful series, and LEGO, but only now being co confirmed.
We'll see Homer, Bart, Marge and the others next year, says Mads Nipper, marketing director with responsibility for product development, marketing and sales of LEGO.
The launch of the characters is a "small product news" in the beginning, but if the reception is strong enough, can quickly turn up the production. It will be a small launch, but it will hopefully be fun and exciting for those who like the Simpsons universe, says Mads Nipper.
The target audience for The Simpsons are teenagers and adults, but there are also many children who know them, says product manager at Top Toy, Carsten Nielsen. He has seen the figures as they appear in the 2014 catalog, and he says that "they are really well made."
Thanks to EyeExist / Legodt.no for the news.

I'm not sure if the contents of series 11 boxes has been published elsewhere already; if it has I haven't seen it, so I'm grateful for Adam at The Minifigure Store for sending it to me. So, which are the common ones, and which are rare?
Rare, 2 per box: scarecrow, diner waitress, grandma, pretzel girl, island warrior, saxophone player
4 per box: evil mech, gingerbread man, barbarian, lady robot, scientist, holiday elf
Common, 6 per box: mountain climber, constable, yeti, welder

Re: 2013 Theme Discussion
The first signs of winter are on the way (well they’re always on the way in Canada, but you learn to tune them out). The days are getting short, the kids will be heading back to school soon and new toys are trickling out onto the shelves. Nothing says winter is coming like the release of the new LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar that so many have a hate/love relationship with. Our intrepid NY chat troll murphquake has found the beastie at a local TRU with a whopping $58 price tag. It isn’t up on the TRU website yet, or anywhere else it seems, but it’s only a matter of time and we’ll let you know asap when it does. It looks like this one has codes on each Sunday window that unlock surprises online, undoubtedly themed around the Yoda Chronicles. If you want to spoil the surprises, he’s taken all kinds of photos of the daily bits here.
Thanks again murph!

It is sure weird seeing what appears to be a MMORPG running on mobile along with a PC version. We will have to keep waiting to see more, until then here is the trailer!

I notice on the home page today that set #7641 City Corner is being re-released as #60031. Its good to see this set coming back - another Lego bus for my collection! and it should sit nicely with the new town plan set. I wasn't aware this set was returning, any idea on release dates?

Re: 2013 Theme Discussion
"LEGO is set to release (much like the Olympic minifigures) a complete wave of blind-bag minifigures (series 13 to be precise), with 16 Simpsons characters to collect – including Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, Apu, Chief Wiggum, Moe, Itchy and Scratchy and many more of the show’s iconic characters – which will be launched May 2014.
"And despite a list of proposed LEGO sets hitting the likes of Brickset and Bricks & Bloks, we can confirm that the *only* LEGO set to be launched in the first quarter of 2014 in the UK will be the Simpsons House, which is set to be made available direct to consumers (via the LEGO website and LEGO stores) in April 2014.
"On top of that, this new LEGO range will also be supported by a special Simpsons LEGO TV episode (much like the LEGO Star Wars specials) in May 2014!"
So, I guess that means that the possible set list is either not correct, or won't all be available in all markets.
(Thanks Kez for the news)

Re: 2013 Theme Discussion
There was a lot of excitement yesterday when LEGO revealed a 'poster' for Ninjago 2014 on Facebook.
The binary code at the bottom represents ASCII characters which spell out Nindroid. I guess this implies some sort of robotic theme to the series.
It seems that minifigures have 'leaked out' from somewhere already because yesterday this one was sold on eBay for over US$50. It certainly bears a resemblance to the poster, doesn't it, so it looks as if it's the Ninjas who become 'robotic' rather than (or as well as) their adversaries.
Thanks everyone for the news.

Bricktober 2013 by Ninnymuggins003, on Flickr
FBTB has posted pictures, taken by flickr user Ninnymuggins003, of the freebies that'll be available in TRU stores during their 'Bricktober' promotion.
Don't get too excited; they are of far-east origin :-)

Re: 2013 Theme Discussion
I somewhat weirder news, Brickset is reporting that "40056, Thanksgiving Feast, is currently listed for other countries (in addition to the US, where Thanksgiving sets are usually exclusive to) however it is presently shown as being sold out.
We don't celebrate Thanksgiving as such in my part of the world so it's good to see this particular set will hopefully be made available to all. There are some great accessories in this set!"

Re: 2013 Theme Discussion
Brickset and Eurobricks users are reporting that late-2013 and 2014 City sets be based in the Arctic! This is very exciting for us younger ones who missed out on both the Technic and City arctic themes.
